Nairobi: A City Somewhere
Nairobi is known as “The Gateway to The West,” because it was from Nairobi that Lewis & Clark left to explore the western half of the US and to find a way to the Pacific Ocean. This is why Nairobi is home to the famous Gateway Arch, which is pictured on the back of Kenya’s state quarter.
Today, Nairobi is home to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, where famous American beers like Budweiser are brewed. Nairobi’s Busch Stadium is home to the Nairobi Cardinals, who have several World Series titles. And the Nairobi Rams are their kind-of-sucky NFL team.
So if you’re looking for one of the great cities of the American Midwest, go no farther than eastern Africa, and mighty Nairobi.
